Hello everybody, GiNaC 1.4.2 is out and available. The changes are: * Fixed VPATH building of documentation. * Fixed bug in numerical evaluation of multiple polylogarithms for arguments equal to certain roots of unity (thanks to Jianqiang Zhao). * Fixed check for memory leakage in parser. * Made internal function coerce() standard compliant. * Improved lsolve() of systems containing non-numeric coefficients. * Improved automatic test programs. Building ginac without pkg-config

I am trying to build ginac on a computer that doesn't have pkg-config installed. I have CLN installed in $HOME/local. The final output of ./configure --prefix=$HOME/local is: checking for dlopen in -ldl... yes checking for pkg-config... no checking for CLN... configure: error: The pkg-config script could not be found or is too old. Make sure it is in your PATH or set the PKG_CONFIG environment variable to the full path to pkg-config. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables CLN_CFLAGS and CLN_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. To get pkg-config, see <http://pkg-config.freedesktop.org/>. See `config.log' for more details. The problem is I get this error from ./configure even after defining CLN_CFLAGS and CLN_LIBS, like this: $ export CLN_CFLAGS=-I$HOME/local/include $ export CLN_LIBS=-L$HOME/local/lib Does ./configure actually check for the environment variables, like the message suggests it does? Help!!! I cannot build ginac 1.4.1 on mingw

Hello I'm an octave-cygwin and octave-mingw maintainer. Recently a new sybolic package has been released on the octave-forge (octave optional package). On the cygwin the package build was successful but on the mingw it was failed. For the cygwin, the cln-1.1.13 with the gmp 4.2.1 and ginac 1.4.1 have been installed. For the mingw, those are the cln-1.1.10 wihout the gmp and the ginac-1.3.7. The there would be possible, I tried to build the ginac 1.4.1. I have buid the gmp 4.2.2 and the cln-1.1.13 and make check of both tests were successful. So I have tried to make ginaic 1.4.1. At the compling stage, I have a troble in excompiler.cpp for mktemp. The mktemp does not exist for the normal mingw environment. So I partly ported the glibc on the GnuWin32. extern "C"{ char *mktemp (char *__template) ; } was added and link against glibc library. The complipe stage was sucessful. However the link stage there exited a lot of errors. A part of them are placed at the end of this mail. I suspect that my way was wrong. What are the possibilities? Hi, I am a newbie as far as programming in C++ is concerned. I am trying to write a program which uses both packages C-XSC and GiNaC. I have a function in C-XSC: GTvector F (const GTvector& x) { GTvector Result(3); Result[1] = -3.0/4.0*(3.0*sin(2*x[1])+sin(x[1]+x[2])+sin(x[1]+x[3])-sin(x[2]+x[3])); Result[2] = -3.0/4.0*(3.0*sin(2*x[2])+sin(x[1]+x[2])-sin(x[1]+x[3])+sin(x[2]+x[3])); Result[3] = -3.0/4.0*(3.0*sin(2*x[3])-sin(x[1]+x[2])+sin(x[1]+x[3])+sin(x[2]+x[3])); return Result; } My question is : if I want to generalize this function so that it can be used for any three functions f1, f2, f3 belonging to the class "ex" of GiNaC, where f1 , f2, f3 are functions of (t1,t2,t3), where t1, t2 and t3 belong to class "symbol" in GiNaC. I could not find headers for libreadline

Hi all! I'm new user of linux. I've installed an Ubuntu 7.10. I need to install Ginac for some scientific programs. But I get this problem while doing "./configure" ===The following minor problems have been detected by configure. ===Pleas check .... === I could not find the headers for libreadline (needed for building ginsh). ===I could not find libreadline (needed by ginsh). ------------------------ I've read the Install file and Common problems. I found that there is installed libreadline5.2-3build1 After I've read from Ginac mailing list archives similar problems, but i can't det the main idea. CLN 1.2.0 is available

Hi, CLN 1.2.0 has been released. Here is a list of what's changed: Algorithmic changes ------------------- * Save big amounts of memory in the computation of some functions and constants by: - Avoiding pre-computation of series terms and instead computing them in a streamed way. - Avoiding computation with excess precision in binary splitting algorithm by coercion of intermediate integer values to floating-point as early as possible. Implementation changes ---------------------- * Added support for huge numbers: - intC used for all counter loops. - intE is now a 64-bit type on all 64-bit platforms and even on selected 32-bit platforms. * CLN now uses C++ exceptions for error handling. The cl_abort() hook is not supported any more. Please refer to the documentation to learn about existing exception types. * Fixed a bug on i386 where comparing Z/2Z ring zeros returnd random results. * Removed cl_boolean. Use built-in C++ bool instead. Other changes ------------- * Dropped the cln-config script. Please use pkg-config instead. * Updated infrastructure to that of libtool-1.5.24. * Changed encoding of all files to UTF-8. * Fix compilation issues with GCC-4.3. * Fix linking issues on platforms that don't feature weak symbols (like win32). GiNaC on VS2005?
