set_TeX_name() ?

I see that there is a set_name method in the symbol class and was wondering if there is a reason there is no set_TeX_name() method? I have a situation where I would like to declare a number of symbols, all using the default constructor, but then would like to set the TeX string of these symbols later. It seems like this implementation would work fine: void set_TeX_name(const std::string & n) { TeX_name = n; } Attached is a patch, if this implementation seems reasonable. Empty brackets in compiled C code.

Hi guys. Finally, with the help of those on this mailing list I was able to compile the lenet5 demo into c. But at first I was getting a few of these errors from the compiled C code: /home/refinedcode/Development/lush/packages/gblearn2/demos/C/lenet5_fprop.c:327:278: > error: expected expression before ‘)’ token > So i opened up the C code and found that all the errors pointed towards this one line: (L3_19__x_)->Vtbl->M_net_cscscf(L3_19__x_, L2_1_image_height, > L2_2_image_width, L2_3_ki0, L2_4_kj0, L2_13_table0, L2_5_si0, L2_6_sj0, > L2_7_ki1, L2_8_kj1, L2_14_table1, L2_9_si1, L2_10_sj1, > ((()((((double)(L2_1_image_height-((L2_3_ki0)-1)))/((double)L2_5_si0))-((L2_7_ki1)-1)))/(()L2_9_si1)), > ((()((((double)(L2_2_image_width-((L2_4_kj0)-1)))/((double)L2_6_sj0))-((L2_8_kj1)-1)))/(()L2_10_sj1)), > L_Tmp20, L2_12_output_size, L1_net_param); > > As you can see there are some empty brackets that have caused these errors. It wasn't a big deal to me as removing the empty brackets fixed the problem and it ran fine but is there somewhere I should post this? I don't assume anyone else has seen this before? Maybe im doing something wrong that caused it. If anyone wants I can post more details about it but I doubt it would be anyone's priority. Thanks for helping me with my questions by the way! Problem in factor

Hello list, we use GiNaC::factor in our program to factorize univariate and multivariate polynomials. This works quite well on our instances, however we encounter strange segfaults sometimes, e.g. in the following cases: factor(-5474155567807987/200000000000000+174247781/20000000*x^2-1989199947807987/200000000000000*x); factor(-5474155567807987/20000000000000+174247781/10000000*x^2-1989199947807987/200000000000000*x); factor(-5474155567807987/200000000000000+174247781/1000000*x^2-1989199947807987/200000000000000*x); factor(-5474155567807987/200000000000000+174247781/10*x^2-1989199947807987/200000000000000*x); factor(-5474155567807987/200000000000000+174247781/2*x^2-1989199947807987/200000000000000*x); factor(-5474155567807987+174247781/10000000*x^2-1989199947807987/200000000000000*x); factor(174247781/10000000*x^2-1989199947807987/200000000000000*x); factor(174247781*x^2-1989199947807987/200000000000000*x); The latter calls are just modifications of the original first call, but all of them fail. I did not manage to pinpoint a commonality which could give a clue to the actual cause of the error. With a debugger, we traced the error to a call to CLN's * operator (in factor.cpp:1512), in particular, the method the<cl_I>( ... ). However, the actual problem might already be in GiNaC. I suspect, there is a problem with computing the content of the input by GiNaC::unitcontprim 10 lines above the error occurrence, but I'm not sure. We used ginac-1.6.2 and cln-1.3.2-r1 on a Gentoo Linux machine. Does anyone have an idea what is going wrong here? Best regards, Ulrich.

Codeblocks - Fedora 17

I'm trying to compile one of the sample using Codeblocks with gcc 4.7.2 on Fedora 17. The file compiles fine using the terminal with the additional flags as stated in the documentation. How can I do the same in Codeblocks? Even if I set those flags in the build options I get hundreds of undefined references. How can I get the values of the solved vars from the returned expression from lsolve?

Hi I stumbled across this incredibly useful library and I wanted to use the lsolve function. I was reading the tutorial pdf to figure out how to use it. So from lsolve i end up with an expression like: *{a==3,b==4} > * I was wondering how I could get a value of the a and b symbols from this? I would ideally like to store them in an int to use in another library. I have been looking for an answer for a while so I would really appreciate if anyone knows? I could parse it like a string but Im assuming there is a better way? Thank you for your time, Zach

Possible bug in csrc output format.

Hi, I've been exporting C code from GiNaC using "csrc_double" output format during a long time. Now we are dealing with rather long real expressions, that involve only +-*\ and pow. In a benchmark and for comparison purposes we've end up comparing the results of evaluate the same function through "dflt" (used to generate output for MATLAB) and csrc_double (used to generate same code for C). Numerical discrepancies where found and traced back to to small symbolic differences in the output obtained through both formats. To avoid the problem and due to the symbolical simplicity of our expressions (only +-*\ and pow) we've developed our own -very simple- exporting format for C. Basically we derive our format from "dflt" and change the way in which natural numbers and powers are written (we append a .0 to natural numbers) and we change a^b with pow(a,b). Right now we are obtaining a correct behaviour the export based on our new format, coherent with "dflt" numerical results (in a particular case), and obtaining different results with csrc_double (I think too with csrc alone). So I think I'm facing a bug in csrc output format. I wonder if anybody wants me to report further on this (I don't feel confident as to dig into GiNaC's implementation of crsc). If so please let me know the way in which I can report back the error (or what I think is an error) with the required detail. Cheers, Javier

First of all, I am actually super duper new in linux things and cross compiling, so frankly I don't understand about all things that I did, including also the commands for compiler and configure. I gathered all those by searching internet and reading some forums and just "try and error". My final goal is to compile ginac so that I have *.lib (static) or *.dll (shared) in to use in MSVC. That what brought me to that website link. I tried to follow all the steps with correction necessary according to my situation. As far as understand, CC=cl CXX=cl CCAS=cl is necessary if we want to compile library with cl.exe (microsoft compiler and linker), of course CC = cl shows that intention. I dont understand for the remaining two. That is the reason I put those options in configure. As said previously, missing in installing libreadline make error in ginsh compiling process. I am aware of that issue. However, (as i asked initially) I just dont get it when it is said that ginsh will not be compiled but in fact it is being compiled. I finally managed this problem by manually edit the makefile. I erased ginsh doc tool option in SUBDIRS = ginac check ginsh tools doc DIST_SUBDIRS = ginac check ginsh tools doc becoming SUBDIRS = ginac check DIST_SUBDIRS = ginac check then ginac is compiled succesfully. All tests are passed too. Now, I get the *.lib, I tested it in visual studio, It works well in release mode but not in debug. I dont know why. I am also trying to make *.dll. It is succesfully compiled, but all tests are failed. Again, I dont know what is the reason. related to Jan's suggestion about putting in .ll ( is it ginsh_lexer.ll ??), it is failed.
