after make install ginsh fails with
ginsh: error while loading shared libraries: \
libginac-1.4.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
running ldconfig fixes the problem.
So mention that in the INSTALL file:

To install from a source .tar.bz2 distribution:
$ ./configure
$ make
[become root if necessary]
# make install
# ldconfig <--= line added

... or trigger ldconfig with the install target
