Well, this is benchmarks/timebench2b with 100 decimal digits and oodles of repetitions on i386 Linux, GCC 4.1: static 29m12s static, -fno-exceptions 29m21s shared 30m12s shared, -fno-exceptions 31m57s Dunno if this is so sensitive, but it appears like turning on -fno-exceptions makes the shared library slightly slower.
